How I work

I trained in industrial design at Central Saint Martins and designed aircraft seating and Tupperware products before moving into digital in 2021. Making things that get manufactured taught me to respect constraints and care how something feels to use.

Now I lead design end to end, from the first research to the numbers after launch.

Outside work

Away from screens I photograph buildings, mostly concrete. Trips tend to get planned around architecture, which last year meant a lot of Japan, from concrete galleries to the canals of Kurashiki.

  • Looking up at the stacked concrete balconies of a brutalist tower, planted with flowers
  • Wooden chairs in front of a curved brick wall, striped with sunlight through a glass roof
  • A yellow polka dot sculpture in a field of long golden grass in front of woodland
  • The sharp edge of a timber roof above autumn maple leaves in Japan

Measuring everything

Every release is measured against a number agreed before design starts. If a feature doesn’t move it, I pull it back.

Watching people use it

I test with customers and go where the product is used, from shop floors to family focus groups. What I see there decides what gets cut.

Changing the brief

When research shows the real problem is bigger than the brief, I say so and bring the evidence to change it.

Working with product and engineering

I set priorities with product, check feasibility with engineering early, and ship in small tested steps.

Designing across the business

Brand, marketing, trading, content and legal see my work early, while their input can still change the design.

Crit and shared libraries

I run a weekly design crit, mentor other designers and build shared Figma libraries that other teams use.
